Well, the fates were with me as I started down the road of buying a new car. (See I needed new tires.)
Anyway, less than three weeks from the time I put my SUV in
AutoTrader.com , a nice middle-aged couple from Crestwood bought it. Which left me without a car.
So to the rescue are
Hot Mom and
Ellen. I'd made arrangements with Ellen to carpool together(actually more like chauffeur me) to work for the next couple of weeks until my new car came in. Not five days later, by happenstance, my dealer calls me at 4:30 pm and says, "Hey, I gotta car for you. It's the color you want, but it's a package 5. My new car manager says he'll knock $500 off if you can come in tonight."
"Well... well, oh my God. Um... I'm so unprepared. My dog needs to be let out - he's old and defecates indiscriminately. Oy... Okay!" Hang up. "Ellen? I know you're trying to get the Project From Hellâ„¢ done, but can you give me a ride??"
So after more than 3 hours at the dealership (where I had a checkbook but no checks and left my auto insurance card at home), I was tooling down the highway in my new car. Of course, my dealer friend was following me closely to collect the check.
So I have a hybrid, and I'm learning how to be fuel efficient. And I'm back with the car payments again. Oy.
Still, a very cool car and I call him Shrek, cuz he's green and he's a little different, but he's beautiful. Funny, I feel really good about this car, better than I did driving off the lot with my last one. Now if only I can feel good about my house purchase. *sigh*
