Sarah Palin's pastor, Thomas Muthee, the guy who managed to chase a woman from a Kenyan village claiming she was a witch, laid hands on Sarah Palin a while back and prayed for Jesus to "make a way" for Sarah.
In addition to praying that Jesus remove all witchcraft from her path, he had this little tidbit to say in that same lovely sermon:
The second area whereby God wants us, wants to penetrate in our society is in the economic area. The Bible says that the wealth of the wicked is stored up for the righteous. It's high time that we have top Christian businessmen, businesswomen, bankers, you know, who are men and women of integrity running the economics of our nations. That's what we are waiting for. That's part and parcel of transformation. If you look at the -- you know -- if you look at the Israelites, that's how they work. And that's how they are, even today.
Yes, Israelites.

Now he may have a point here. Bush was born of wealth and McCain will someday inherit the righteous finances his wife leaves behind to her hubby 30 or some years her senior.
I mean c'mon. Chances are Mrs. McCain will be sued for alimony by John before he leaves the Oval Office. And the meek shall inherit the earth.

Listen more closely to what he says. He says "that's how they WERE and that's how they are today." Notice that the second half of the sentence relates the the first half. It is only the inability to understand his (clearly African) accent that has invented this "that's how they work" quote. Do yourself a favor and listen more closely to the video before spreading this incredibly bogus meme and making yourself look bad.
It may be that "that's how they were" is just as bad as "that's how they WORK" but the quote is the former and not the latter. Those who have no idea what "The Israelites" means in a religious context (hint, Christians identify with "The Israelites" in this context)) can feel free to get outraged, but they should get outraged about the actual quote.

I've actually listened very carefully. Others have insinuated the remark is anti-semitic. I don't see it that way nor did I say it was. But I do think it odd he seemed to imply Christians are running the government and banks of Israel. (Pray for Christian men and women to run the government and banks like the Israelites do.)
"Israelites" are in robes and sandals, plowing arid lands 5000 years ago. "Israelis" are a modern people in a modern society with computers, cars, X-Boxes and all kinds of cool stuff. But thanks for clarifying the context.
And I still wonder how Pastor Witch Hunter will play in South Florida.
